Here is an amazing example of us doing a custom, boutique bike build for a customer. James came into our Greengate location a few weeks ago interested in a new road bike. After speaking with him and discovering his love for track bikes (he was currently riding a Specialized Langster), we showed him the Specialized Allez Sprint and we knew that was the right bike for him.
The only issue was that James wanted something a bit more unique, so we went about putting a custom frame-up build. After a bit of discussion, James decided on a Sram Red eTap 11-Speed groupset. Red eTap not only has a great balance of low weight and high performance, but the wireless connection creates a beautiful aesthetic throughout the whole bike. For the wheelset, we were able to set him up with some Bontrager Aeolus XXX wheels that are super light and have great DT Swiss internals. The lazer etched brake track adds a great deal of confidence when trying to slow the bike down.
Mounted on the wheels are the Specialized S-Works Turbo tire. We decided on a 28c tire size to help add a bit of comfort and compliance since the Allez Sprint can be quite a stiff riding bike. Finishing kit on the bike includes a Fizik Arione saddle, S-Works Carbon Shallow Bend handlebar wrapped in Specialized Roubaix bar tape, and an S-Work SL Stem. James also signed up for our Cycle Club Rewards loyalty program and was able to get himself a Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt bike computer with his 10% dividends.
Altogether, this 56cm sized bike weighed in at 16.6 lbs, so this is an aluminum bike is lighter than a lot of carbon fiber offerings on the market. When James picked up his new bike, he could not have been more stoked, and we could not have been more happy to set him up with a unique bike, perfectly customized to his likely, and one that will certainly stand out in a crowd.
